The Beginning: September 2019

In September 2019, I started a document for myself to keep the memories somewhere easily accessible. A journal of sorts.

I had no idea that it'd become the journey of a lifetime for me. Below are those initial September entries. The ones before I really knew what was going on.

Note: I have abbreviated doctor's names and taken out any kind of location information for obvious reasons.

Mid September 2019

Is that blood in my stool? Again? Why is this happening? I didn’t have that much dairy or too many grains. Hmmmmm. Time to stop putting off changing my primary care and get in to see the doctor about this.

I called the new primary care’s central scheduling today. She told me it’s normally a 30 day wait to get an “establishing care” appointment. After chatting about which location and who I wanted to see (Dr. T), she was able to get me into a slot that had been canceled for later that week.

Today, I headed in for my 3:00 appointment today with Dr. T. We had a chat about finding blood in my stool and endometriosis, family history, and possibilities. Maybe hemorrhoids.  He asked if I’d prefer a general surgeon or a gastroenterologist. I decided gastroenterologist would be my preferred way to go. Just in case anything came back that needed more care.

Since it had been a couple of years, Dr T ordered a set of normal, yearly check up blood work as well. Yay! Needles! (Ugh)

The one thing I really like about this area is that while not all of the medical offices do their own bloodwork, the diagnostics center here is so nice to go in, get everything done, and roll out. Anyhow, it took about 30 minutes to get there, get checked in, and be done.

Later in the day, the gastroenterologist’s office called. I was out and missed their call, so I returned the call. Talking with their scheduling person, usually they’re about 30 days out for new patients as well. As she was checking their schedule, she saw they had an opening for later in the week. Of course, I took the appointment and told her I’d see them then.
